Vallter 9921
Castellfollit de la Roca / Beguet / Oix / Camprodón / Vallter
The great cycling feats are consummated in the mountain stages where the most mythical passes on the planet are crowned. Beastly climbs where the myths of this sport are forged with high doses of epic. The organizers of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya know this and are betting on this stage ending in Vallter 2000, a ski resort, here the last winners have been Valverde and Van Garderen.
This colossus features terrifying numbers that certify its toughness. 12.1 kilometers of ascent from its beginning in Setcases with a median slope of 7.3% and with ramps that reach 14%, this leaving aside the height (which exceeds 2000 meters) that lowers oxygen levels in the air. From the third to the eighth kilometres they qualify it as "infernal" but at kilometer 9.6 approx. The most spectacular and iconic area arrives the last almost 3 kilometers with the mythical horseshoe curves that become eternal.
Not everything is hard; the route passes through some fantastic natural landscapes and towns of medieval architecture such as Són Oix, Beget, Rocabruna and Setcases.
